Beach Entry Pool Options

Beach Entry Pool Options

Basic pool designs have a minimum depth of around three feet, and they progress to a deep end that can be around six to eight feet. You get in the pool by a ladder or some stone steps. While this system works perfectly well for many, it can pose some challenges for others. For that reason, beach entry pools – also known as zero entry pools – are available.

With a beach entry pool, you have an entrance that gradually progresses from about an inch or two of water to get deeper and deeper. The effect is just like what you see at the beach, with the water lapping at the sand and getting deeper as you progress.

Benefits of a Beach Entry Pool

There are a few reasons why you might want a beach entry pool. The first is that you may have young children who are not yet swimming confidently or who are just getting used to the water. The beach entry provides them a safe and comfortable place to enjoy the water.

Another benefit of a beach entry pool is that it provides a comfortable entry for those with mobility issues. For people who have joint issues, have trouble walking, or are in a wheelchair, the beach entry makes it much easier to get into the pool.

Finally, even if you can swim well and have no mobility issues, the beach entry offers you a nice area to sit in the water and relax without fully immersing yourself.

Designing Your Beach Entry Pool

The materials you choose for your beach entry pool will have a big impact on its overall look. You can create a beach entry that looks like an actual beach – with exposed aggregate concrete or colored stucco that looks like sand. The edge of the pool can meet the deck, with the water lapping on the sides.

You can also design a beach entry pool with a defined border. You would have to step over the edge to enter the pool, which would have a shallow entry that gets deeper. WIth this design, you have many more choices for materials. You can use stone or concrete coping to create the border of the pool, and you can use a variety of materials for the entryway, such as mosaic tile, exposed aggregate concrete, and more. You can also use different colors for the entry area to set it off from the rest of the pool, and that gives you many creative options.
