Hardscaping and garden design don’t have to be mutually exclusive. In fact, there are a number of ways you can incorporate hardscape design to enhance the flavor and appearance of your garden design.
Start by using hardscaping to create raised flower beds. Concrete, stone, and brick are ideal choices that can be used to create defined planting areas that are easily reached without the need to bend over. Coupled with paved walkways or gravel paths, the result is a garden area that looks beautiful and requires very little weeding.
Another popular option is to include sitting areas within your garden. By creating a patio out of pavers or stamped concrete, you can create a secluded rest area that’s surrounded by your favorite foliage. This area can be surrounded by retaining walls topped with everything from Junipers to tall grasses. Taking it a step further, you can incorporate water features within this area such as small ponds or fountains to create a gentle and relaxing ambiance.
