The Dos and Don’ts of Creating Your Ultimate Hardscape, Part 1

The Dos and Don’ts of Creating Your Ultimate Hardscape, Part 1

Adding a new hardscape to your property is a big decision. Before you lay down a new patio, there are several things you need to consider. A great article from HGTV.com can help guide you through the pitfalls that trips up many people.

Keep some green

Keep some green space when designing your hardscaping.

First thing to realize is that once you add a new hardscaping feature to your home, it can be very expensive to move it or change it. Plan out as much of the area as you can before the first stone is placed. If you decide to build a patio now without considering the rest of the space, the new patio could affect your ability to add a pool, walkway or outdoor living space later.

Save some space for green areas. Allow enough space for a flower bed, shrubbery or a patch of turf to offset some of the hardscaping. Even a small patch of turf could provide a cool oasis to escape an unrelenting sun on a hot summer day.

We’ll discuss some other dos and don’ts next week, but if you can’t wait that long, give Triad Associates a call today to walk you through your new hardscape.
