May is Water Safety Month and there are several great resources to help you stay safe around the pool this summer. The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals, the American Red Cross, the National Recreation & Park Association and the World Waterpark Association encourage you to spread the word about Water Safety Month.

Everyone needs to know proper water safety.
Teach your children about water safety and provide swimming lessons at an early age.
- Brief anyone supervising your children on proper water safety.
- Make sure someone is monitoring children around the pool at social gatherings.
- Have a phone near the pool with emergency numbers preprogrammed.
- Always have rescue equipment near your pool; waiting for the paramedics to arrive could be too late.
- Never leave a child unattended around a pool.
