Tips for Maintaining Your Walkways

Tips for Maintaining Your Walkways

Keeping your walkways looking new is not only a beautiful accent to your home, but it can prevent damage or even injuries from occurring. If you are unsure of the steps in maintaining walkways, we have put together the basic guidelines to help you along.

Trim and Cut

If your walkway passes through grass or is lined with trees, shrubs or other plants you will need to keep it trimmed away. Larger shrubs and trees need to be pruned back so there is nothing hindering the path.

In the event your pathway becomes inundated with grass or weeds, taking a weed cutter to clear the edges and remove the sprouts from crevices makes the task simpler to address.

Keep the Moss and Dirt at Bay

Take the time twice a year to scrub the stone or concrete with cleaner developed for the task then use a power washer to remove it. If your walkway comes in contact with vegetation or is close to a pool be especially careful about the runoff and the formula of the wash.
