There are plenty of ways you can blend hardscaping into a landscape. One of the easiest and most popular hardscape ideas is to take your stones, concrete, and other “tough” materials and use the lush greens and vibrant colors of nature to soften them up a bit.
This can be accomplished by creating gaps throughout pathways where you can plant grass between flagstones, etc., to allow moss and other vegetation to fill in the space between the stones in the hardscape on your patio.
Another option is to use your hardscape to create planters or border your hardscape with flower beds. The results of doing this are that your hard and soft areas are separated, yet close enough together that they create balance. And, creating balance is the result you’re aiming for. Don’t forget the visual effect; choose foliage colors that foster a sharp contrast between the stones they’re beside will make for a very visually appealing outdoor area.
