3 Reasons Why Your Pool Plaster May be Damaged

Pools will bring a tremendous amount of pleasure to your summer days. Understandably though, they can also bring a lot of maintenance. Among the things that you will want to pay attention to is the condition of your pool plaster, which can degrade and become damaged as time passes. Here are three causes of plaster damage you should pay attention to:

  1. Heavy Metals, Calciums, & Salts. Magnesium, Calcium, and Salts within the water can come from either the sanitizers you use or the water you use to fill your pool. Thus, you should use a product such as Metal Out to remove these minerals before they cause damage.
  2. Improper pH levels. Low pH levels can etch pool plaster. This etched surface can collect dirt, staining the plaster. It can also make it easier for algae to grow.
  3. Temperature Changes. The expansion and contraction caused by seasonal weather changes and ice formation can quite easily cause chips and cracks.
